Taylor Boren

Founder/Principal Attorney of Boren Law Firm, P.C.

Bio

Taylor Boren is the founder and principal attorney of Boren Law Firm, P.C. Taylor is an experienced litigator with a passion for fierce advocacy and obtaining justice for his clients. Taylor has litigated complex matters across five states—California, Washington State, New York, Oregon, and Arizona—and is well-versed in navigating child sex abuse cases, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases, and various business litigation matters.

Prior to founding Boren Law Firm, P.C., Taylor Boren was a named partner of a sex abuse litigation firm with case operations in California and Arizona. Before that, Taylor worked with one of the nation’s premier litigation firms for survivors of sexual abuse, centered in Southern California. There, Taylor worked on many of the biggest sex abuse cases in the country, including the ~$852 million settlement against the University of Southern California (USC) involving Dr. George Tyndall’s misconduct while a campus gynecologist, as well as settlements against USA Gymnastics for Larry Nassar’s abuse of Olympic gymnasts and against UCLA for allegations involving Dr. James Heaps and his gynecology/oncology patients. At this prior firm, Taylor worked with the team of attorneys comprising Co-Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel (lead counsel) in the joint proceedings against the Catholic Church in both the Southern California Clergy Cases (JCCP 5101) and the Northern California Clergy Cases (JCCP 5108), following the passage of California’s “lookback window” that revived many out-of-statute claims for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, allowing these survivors to finally hold their abusers and various institutions accountable for the harm and endangerment caused to these survivors.

Prior to his litigation career, Taylor received a Fulbright Scholarship from the U.S. State Department to research cutting-edge developments in international disability law at Jönköping University in Sweden. Specifically, Taylor studied developmental outcomes for children with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD) under Swedish disability laws, resulting in a first author publication in the Journal for Policy & Practice in Intellectual Disabilities. Taylor lectured on his findings across Europe, presenting at conferences in Vienna, Berlin, Uppsala, Jönköping, and Stockholm. He has also lectured at Jönköping University’s Graduate School of Health Sciences about identifying and addressing the underreported prevalence of PTSD in mainstream society. Taylor has continued his commitment to legal work on the global stage. Prior to Russia’s invasion into Ukraine in 2022, Taylor lectured at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Taylor was one of the “key speakers” at the 2nd Annual Kharkiv International Legal Forum, lecturing on the U.S.’s First National Action Plan aimed to enhance human rights and international cooperation through responsible conduct in Ukrainian business.

Taylor attended Berkeley Law School (Boalt Hall) at the University of California, Berkeley. While in law school, Taylor worked as a Staff Member with the Veterans Law Clinic in San Francisco, helping veterans and trauma survivors navigate the complicated bureaucracies of the Veterans Administration. By his second year of law school, while working with a firm in Washington State, Taylor co-authored a legal treatise chapter published by the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ) on the use of expert testimony in civil cases.

During his time at Berkeley Law School, Taylor also began honing his experience in business law. Alongside his legal studies, Taylor enrolled in various courses at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and he received the Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Real Estate, offered by Haas and Berkeley Law. In his final year at Berkeley Law School, Taylor won 1st Place in the prestigious Pircher, Nichols & Meeks Real Estate Negotiation Competition—the first solo recipient to earn the $2,000 prize. During law school, Taylor founded the Berkeley Law Entrepreneurship Society for enterprising lawyers.

Taylor Boren attended the University of Washington, Seattle, for his undergraduate education. At UW, Taylor received the Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship. While completing his undergraduate education, Taylor worked with the Center for the Study of Health and Risk Behaviors (CSHRB). Taylor contributed to psychological research aimed at improving treatments of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnoses that present with sleep disturbances. Taylor graduated from the University of Washington with Departmental Honors, a B.A. in Law, Societies, and Justice, a B.S. in Psychology, and minors in Philosophy, Political Science, and Human Rights. Upon graduation, Taylor was awarded the Karin Stromberg Award for Contribution to Social Justice, given each year to the “graduating senior who most impressively combines high academic achievement and distinguished service actively contributing to the advancement of social justice.”

Taylor has devoted his legal career to helping society’s most vulnerable and fighting tirelessly for his clients. Although Taylor is qualified to handle a range of litigation matters, Taylor has cultivated considerable experience in sex abuse litigation–against the backdrop of historic “lookback windows” in multiple states giving survivors the chance to finally hold their abusers, and the institutions that enabled these abusers, accountable for past wrongs.

With Boren Law Firm, P.C., Taylor divides his time between California and Washington State. He is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Spokane County Bar Association. Taylor is committed to increasing rural communities’ access to justice, including Pend Orielle County in northeastern Washington State. Taylor remains engaged in public advocacy for society’s most vulnerable, including efforts to extend “lookback windows” across the United States to allow childhood sexual abuse survivors the chance to finally obtain justice.
